I think it off...Semiotic analysis makes me unhappy. I think it offers limited image analysis, and focuses on pinning down the 'meaning' of an image, which is entirely against the point of including graphic devices in fiction. I'm starting to look at either hermeneutics (Gadamer/Heidegger) or structuralism as alternatives to semiotics.
