What does a design thesis look like?

A few people have asked me whether my thesis has 'pictures' in it. Above are two double page spreads to show how I've used images. The top spread shows how they are used as 'quotations' – these are scanned in pages from Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Other images are from my process work – this bottom spread is from the appendix in which I describe the 'Sundays' exhibition I produced (to think through semiotic language).

Thanks, Zoe. Your blog inspires other students like me who are in the same PhD boat. It is great to know that this boat ride does come to an end, just like anything else. My finish line is still a fair bit away, but now I can 'feel' the rush of finishing this once and for all. Good luck on the examination. And btw, I'm a great fan of your post-it graphics. They say it all for me. :)

I'm curious, could I read your thesis?
Hi Eric, when it's finally submitted, it will be available on the digital thesis archive. I'll post a link up when it happens. Hopefully soon!
Zoe, I just discovered this blog and I really like it. I am just starting my dissertation for my EdD degree. The degree is is in Curriculum & Teaching, but I'll be exploring how reading and making comics can be used to teach elementary students principles of violence prevention. I am just in the first stages of it, and your blog is very encouraging!
Andrew, great topic, good luck with your research. The best advice I can give you is to treat it like a job (except you don't have to lie to your boss when you want a 'mental health day').

Kate, best of luck getting to the finish line. The post-it notes helped get me there!

If these pictures are on your thesis project, then I can tell that you really have a great one. And from the looks your ideas was good, I wonder what your thesis statement was, because you really got a great thesis project to show people.
